Billionaire Eli Broad believes the Los Angeles Times will be sold after Tribune settles its nearly four-year-old bankruptcy case, and that “this time around, the price should be better and the advantages of local ownership clear to all.” (He’s shown interest in the paper twice before.) The 78-year-old Broad — a founder of KB Homes and SunAmerica — tells LAT reporters that he’d like to “partner with others … maybe foundations or wealthy families” to take control of the paper. He says he’s talked to potential partners, but declines to name them.
