Osberg steps down as Philly publisher

“I am stepping down as Publisher and CEO of our company,” says Philadelphia Media Network’s Greg Osberg. “My good friend and partner, Bob Hall, will immediately become Publisher and CEO.”

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with all the various people throughout our organization. So much so, that I have agreed to stay on as an advisor to Bob and the owners in matters pertaining to digital strategy and advertising sales. I will be operating out of my office during this engagement.

Osberg’s memo is after the jump.

Subject: Announcement

This afternoon a press release will be distributed announcing that I am stepping down as Publisher and CEO of our company. My good friend and partner, Bob Hall, will immediately become Publisher and CEO. I returned to my hometown, Philadelphia, two years ago to help stabilize the company as it emerged from bankruptcy, expand our portfolio of digital products and initiatives and identify and secure new local ownership. These objectives have been achieved and I now believe The Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com have a bright future with its new ownership team, led by Lewis Katz and George Norcross. They are willing to make the investments necessary to grow the company and manage the business with a sustaining long-term approach, which I am confident will result in a successful outcome. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with all the various people throughout our organization. So much so, that I have agreed to stay on as an advisor to Bob and the owners in matters pertaining to digital strategy and advertising sales. I will be operating out of my office during this engagement. Thank you for your hard work and dedication during a challenging period of transition in the company’s history. I look forward to continuing to work with many of you.

Best,
Greg
