Former TheStreet.com editor-in-chief and ex-Orange County Register innovation officer Glenn Hall has been named managing editor of Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze.com. “The Blaze is an amazing Web phenomenon that shows media can thrive in the new digital age provided the focus and mission are aligned with the needs of the audience,” says Hall. “I am excited about the opportunity to help grow this brand and raise the bar for digital journalism.”

Former Editor in Chief of TheStreet and US Government Editor at Bloomberg Brings Years of Business, Politics, Government and Investigative Journalism Experience to TheBlaze’s Growing Team

(New York, NY June 27th) TheBlaze, Mercury Radio Arts’ news, information, entertainment, and e-commerce network announced today that Glenn Hall, the former Editor in Chief of TheStreet, will be joining as Managing Editor. In his new role, Hall will oversee the day to day management and long term editorial planning of TheBlaze.com’s editors and writers.

Hall starts July 11th. Scott Baker is continuing in his role as Editor in Chief and as previously announced, Joel Cheatwood is President and Chief Content Officer of TheBlaze. TheBlaze.com, launched at the end of August 2010, currently receives around 7 million unique visitors per month.

Hall, a Loeb awards judge, led TheStreet as editor in chief until March 2012. He helped grow TheStreet network into the 10th largest online financial media group, surpassing CNBC.com in 2011 based on comScore audience rankings. He led online and mobile content strategies, helped coordinate the roll out of a host of mobile platforms and apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle and Blackberry, and conceived a revenue-sharing technology and content partnership that grew to include several hundred newspapers within the first year. During his tenure at the helm, TheStreet won numerous awards for investigative reporting, commentary and use of multimedia and mobile technologies.

Prior to joining TheStreet in June 2008, Hall served as chief innovation officer and deputy editor for Freedom Communications Inc.’s flagship newspaper, The Orange County Register, as well other newspapers, television partnerships and multiple Web properties.

Hall also spent a decade with Bloomberg News (1995-2005), where he led the political and government coverage in Washington, D.C., after serving in various other leadership positions in the U.S. and Europe. As a reporter, Hall pioneered the investigative reporting team at The Journal-Gazette in Indiana after starting his career covering business, health and environment issues.

His work also has been published in a variety of newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and International Herald Tribune. Hall received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1991 and a Master’s degree from Boston University in 2011.
