Subject: Amtrak Locomotive #602

As you know, last month Amtrak unveiled advanced technology locomotives built by Siemens for service on the Northeast and Keystone Corridors.

The first two Amtrak Cities Sprinter (ACS-64) electric locomotives (#600 and #601) are in Pueblo, Colo., at the U.S. Department of Transportation facility throughout the summer for comprehensive testing including ride quality, maximum speed and diagnostics.

This morning, a third locomotive (#602), will begin its journey to the east coast.

The locomotive will go through a variety of tests including runs on the Northeast and Keystone Corridors.

The unit will be attached to the California Zephyr, Train 6, departing Emeryville, Calif., on Thursday, June 27, traveling through Salt Lake City, Denver and Omaha, Neb., before arriving in Chicago.

In Chicago, the locomotive will be attached to the Capitol Limited, Train 30, departing on Sunday, June 30, traveling through Cleveland and Pittsburgh before arriving at our nation’s capital on Monday, July 1.

The locomotive will then travel from Washington, D.C. to Wilmington, Del.

As the locomotive travels by rail across the U.S., people can get a glimpse of this high-efficiency, electric locomotive. People are encouraged to follow the locomotive’s journey across America’s rails on the Amtrak Blog, Twitter and Instagram using #Amtrak and #Siemenslocomotive, and to share photos when it stops in their city.
