CELEBRITY PANEL OF JUDGES TO SELECT “HOG-ERTY” AWARD WINNER AT HAPPY HARRY’S BEER & BACON FESTIVAL

Grand Forks, ND – For the restaurants participating in Happy Harry’s Beer and Bacon Festival on October 5, there will be more than just bragging rights on the line for best bacon recipe. A celebrity panel of six judges will rate each restaurant’s submission and the winner will be the inaugural recipient of the “Hog-erty” Award.

The “Hog-erty” Award is a tribute to Grand Forks Herald columnist and author Marilyn Hagerty, who will also serve as one of the Celebrity Judges. The winning organization will receive a framed caricature of Hagerty to proudly display at their establishment.

The celebrity judges will be:
* Michael Brown, City of Grand Forks Mayor;
* Terry Dullum, Anchor and Producer at WDAZ television;
* Hal Gershman, Owner of Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops and City Council President;
* Marilyn Hagerty, Grand Forks Herald Columnist and Author;
* Pat Mars, Co-Host of the BigDogz Morning Show on KJ-108 FM;
* Ben Myhre, Co-Author of the cookbook “Fifty Shades of Bacon”.

The “Hog-erty Award” was drawn by Greg Dohlen, an artist who has been creating caricatures for over 22 years at both live events and corporate outings. His political caricatures have appeared on the television game show Jeopardy and he annually is commissioned by Venues Today magazine to draw their July cover piece.

“I am excited that all of the judges were available to be a part of the inaugural “Hog-erty” Award,” said Alerus Center Assistant Director Bob LeBarron. “I think it’s a wonderful, yet lighthearted, way to honor Marilyn Hagerty for all of her work in promoting the Grand Forks region throughout her career.”
