ERIC ROY writes: “I am the midday news host at NPR affiliate KCRW/Santa Monica. I was filling in on the afternoon shift yesterday (when we air All Things Considered), when this item (below) came over in the AP CA 10th Newsminute at approx 6:27 p.m. PDT. I wish I had a screengrab to validate it, but I am not making this up. If nothing else, I’m impressed by the size of the overlooked generation gap.”

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A Louisiana State Police trooper says millionaire Robert Durst has been booked on weapons charges in that state – on top of a first-degree murder charge lodged by Los Angeles authorities. Trooper Melissa Matey told the Associated Press that an arrest warrant was issued for the former Limp Bizkit frontman and he was rebooked in the Orleans Parish Jail on Monday under two new charges.

I see that this correction went over the wire this morning after I asked the AP’s spokesperson to confirm the Robert Durst/Limp Bizkit error:

In the second item of the California 10th NewsMinute sent March 16 to users of the state broadcast wire, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Robert Durst is a member of a band. He is a real estate heir; Fred Durst is the former frontman of Limp Bizkit.

Update: The Robert Durst/Limp Bizkit reference was in “a brief that appeared solely on the California broadcast wire last night,” says AP spokesman Paul Colford.
