David Harmon, Gannett’s new chief people officer, most recently worked for the Federal Reserve Board and AOL. Bob Dickey’s memo doesn’t describe the CPO’s duties, but I assume he’s the human resources guy with a “clever” title.

I’m pleased to announce today that David Harmon has been named Chief People Officer for new Gannett.
Dave has had more than 25 years of experience in leading diverse, cross-functional teams in the operations and human resources fields. He most recently served as the assistant director and chief human capital officer for the Federal Reserve Board./CONTINUES
Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Board, he was the executive vice president of human resources and corporate services at AOL with responsibilities for human resources, training and development, real estate, travel, facilities, security, risk compliance and administration. Before joining AOL, Dave was vice president/new business development for Footstarworks, a division of Footstar, and served in various human resources capacities at Pepsi-Cola and Cooper Industries.
Dave has a B.A. in Marketing and Psychology from Skidmore College and an MBA from Clarkson University. He has an additional Masters of Operations Management and Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
Dave and his wife, Nikki, have three sons (Nick, Michael and Jonathan) and he is actively involved in his Northern Virginia community through coaching football and basketball, scouting, and through church and fund raising activities.
